At Amplified Life Counseling & Coaching, we help couples reconnect, improve communication, and rebuild trust. Whether you’re facing conflict, life transitions, or simply want to deepen your bond, our licensed therapists provide compassionate, evidence-based support to help you and your partner thrive.
Our Approach to Couples Counseling: Our couple's counselors will work with you individually and as a couple. Our goal is to help both parties bring their best to the relationship, and this often involves resolving past hurts and other issues negatively impacting the relationship. Joint, couples sessions may begin after your counselor has met with each of you and has determined that you are ready for the joint session. The initial joint session will be used to further explain how individual work and joint (couple's sessions) will work together to help you grow together as a couple.
It is common for ongoing, weekly individual sessions to be periodically interspersed with joint (couple's sessions). You might both meet with your counselor individually for several sessions, then have a joint session or two and then return to your individual work with your counselor. To the extent you both have opportunity to increase your own awareness of what you're bringing to the relationship and how this impacts the relationship, you will collectively experience more success in the relationship. In other words, the success of the couple's work depends in large part on the success of the individual work. Your counselor will help you work out the individual / couple's session plan that's best for you.
Fees: Individual sessions are typically billed under the individual's insurance plan, and joint couple's sessions are billed out as a self pay service at $150 per hour. As much as we would like to submit your couple's session as a billable session to your insurance plan, we are not permitted to do so. Generally speaking, health insurance plans do not cover couple's counseling sessions.
Couples Counseling Fee Summary:
*Individual Counseling Sessions: Billed through insurance.
*Joint Couples Sessions: $150 per hour self pay (check or credit card).
Every relationship experiences ups and downs, but some challenges may require professional guidance. According to Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the presence of the “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” in a relationship is one of the clearest indicators that help is needed:
In addition to the Four Horsemen, you and your partner may also benefit from couples counseling if you notice:
Recognizing these signs early—and especially the presence of the Four Horsemen—can help prevent deeper disconnect and start you on the path toward healing.
Couples counseling isn’t only for relationships in crisis—it can also strengthen healthy partnerships. Working with a licensed therapist can help you and your partner:
When couples invest in counseling, they gain tools that not only resolve current challenges but also build resilience for the future.
Every couple is unique. Our therapists tailor sessions to your needs using proven approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for relationships.
In keeping with Dr. John and Julie Gottman’s well-researched and published principles on couples, we believe healthy partnerships thrive when they are built upon a shared vision, purpose, and core values. These qualities represent the highest level of the Gottman Sound Relationship House model.
To support this process, we use the Gottman Relationship Check-Up, which allows couples to see how their perspectives compare and to assess the overall “condition” of their Relationship House. The assessment highlights strengths and challenges, guiding therapy toward the areas that most need repair.
We also recognize that the quality of the relationship depends heavily on the mental health and wellbeing of each partner. That’s why our approach combines individual sessions (focused on personal growth and emotional health) with joint sessions (where partners practice healthy communication patterns and build shared meaning together).
This balanced approach ensures that both individuals grow stronger personally, while the couple as a whole reinforces the foundation of their Relationship House.
At Amplified Life Counseling & Coaching, we draw on Drs. John and Julie Gottman’s Sound Relationship House model to help couples create lasting, healthy connections. A strong relationship house is built on trust, commitment, shared purpose, and healthy communication. Using the Gottman Relationship Check-Up, our counselors identify where cracks may exist in your relationship’s foundation—whether through conflict, emotional distance, or unmet needs. We then guide you through both individual and joint sessions designed to repair, reinforce, and strengthen your relationship. Together, we help you build a relationship house where love, respect, and growth can thrive.
